Wild Fire Update - The multitude of emergency vehicles have left our community. Xcel Energy completed their work of getting electricity back to all the homes that survived and poles to all property where everything was lost. A One Stop Shop was set up today in the old Champs building where the victims of the fires could receive different types of aide. As I drive through my neighborhood, the fields are black - the remaining signs of the fire that has brought devastation to our town. Today I had the privilege of visiting we a few of the victims today, hearing their individual story, feeling their pain. We have many people in our community who are hurting, who are still in shock, who are not sure of what tomorrow holds. ......but I know the community that I live in. I know the hearts of the people who will want to help the fire victims in any way that they can. I have a glimpse of what the future might hold. Hutchinson County United Way is working on raising funds to help aid these people. Immediate needs are currently being met. Now we are looking at what the long term needs are and what our part as a community is in meeting those needs. Please help us if you can. Monetary Donations can be sent to Hutchinson County United Way, P.O. Box 1430, Borger, TX 79008. Make check to Hutchinson County United Way with a memo of Fritch Fire Victims. 100% of your donation will stay in the county and be given to aide the victims of the fire. T hanks to those who have already given!
