Will Palestinians Control East Jerusalem in 3 Years? December 30, 2014 From theTrumpet They’ll take a big leap toward that goal if they get their UN resolution for statehood passed. On Monday, the Palestinians submitted the final draft of their resolution for statehood to the UN Security Council. Palestinians hope the Security Council will vote on the issue by Tuesday or Wednesday, but it will most likely not happen until early 2015. Nine Security Council votes are needed to adopt the resolution. The resolution calls for East Jerusalem to be the capital of Palestine and calls for an end to settlement building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. It also sets a strict timetable for negotiations. The plan calls for a peace deal within one year and a return of Israel to its pre-1967 borders by the end of 2017. Israel removed its troops and settlers from the Gaza Strip in 2005, but said its border would be defenseless if it completely pulled out from the West Bank. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said withdrawing from the West Bank would create a second Hamastan. He also said it would “jeopardize” Israel’s existence. It is expected that the timetable will cause the Security Council to reject the resolution. Either the resolution will not get enough votes, or the United States’ will veto it. Israel warned that it will react strongly if the resolution passes. Israel’s intelligence minister said he would seriously consider dismantling the Palestinian Authority if the resolution passed. While the Trumpet does not know whether the resolution will pass or not, it does know based on Bible prophecy that the Palestinians will gain control of East Jerusalem and soon.
