Will deter Medical Negligence or Medical Practice ref editorial 26/10 Times View and counter view Times view are essentially backward as it ignores the fact that every such act produces a reaction which in this case is likely to affect the system in the long run as Mr Shankaran mentioned. What Times say is populistic thinking that you hang somebody like a kangaroo court and rest will improve. one has to understand the other dimensions of the system. You yourself say public sector infrastructure is deficient but you dont sue the Govt. for that. Pvt . sector has infrastructure but is expensive( who is going to pay for the cost of infrastructure and rising salaries of staff). Dont try to create a situation of paralysis- like in bureaucracy. medical professionals and establishment have already started discussing a column in admission sheet where one should know the income of a person and NRI status so that fee and subsequent compensation is taken acre off. After all to pay one has to earn . By the way what was the fault of the hospital who has been asked to pay a major share-- just because they have invested. Before deciding further please think of long term consequences, just like you think about various media gaging laws. Dr C M Bhagat 9811073959 Secretary NH & ME FORUM DMA
