‘Will re-launch ‘Quit Kashmir Movement ’, announces JKLF ‘India raking up Article debate to divert attention from freedom movement’ Srinagar, May 31: (GNS) The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik on Saturday accused the government of India of diverting the attention from Kashmir freedom movement to state-centre relations by raking up the debate on Article 370 and announced that the group would re-launch ‘Quit Kashmir Movement’ on the pattern of ‘Safr-e-Azadi’ and ‘Signature campaign’. Addressing a press conference in a Srinagar Hotel, Malik said: “Everyone knows that freedom movement is going on in here Kashmir and nothing is new in it. When Atal Bihari Vajpayee came here, he said I will resolve Kashmir issue. But the new government did spin by handing over a list containing five demands to one party (Pakistan) of the dispute and asked it to correct your character as it is not right. And, on the other side, it dropped the balloon of Article 370 among the second party (Kashmir people) of the dispute and what happened is that all unionist parties said a revolution would hit streets,” adding: “what we understand is that it is only and only an attempt to change the discourse of Kashmir freedom movement from pro-freedom struggle to state-centre relations.” “India has achieved success from this attempt we are seeing the debate has reached in our streets,” he said. “All of the sudden Kashmir people, writers, columnists, and freedom seekers are thinking that something is being snatched from us and here India’s strategy succeeded.” Malik said that the Article 370 has been emptied upto and it is left now only on papers. He slammed the mainstream political parties and said that they are the ones who have eroded it. “Omar Abdullah says if Article 370 is abrogated, the Kashmir will secede. People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is saying to shut the mouth of the junior minister and send him to a psychiatrist…he wants to burn Kashmir,” Malik said, adding: “These are the ones who eroded the 98 percent of Article.” “India is using mainstream parties to shift the focus from Azadi (freedom) to Article 370 debate.”
