Willits Bypass Resistance UPDATE: DAY 5 - 6-24-13 Day Five and Draining of the Wetlands of Mendocino County, Willits Valley has been thwarted again by the brave action of individuals like Will who has stopped the destructive draining of the Little Lake Valley by locking down on top of the rigging of a 70 foot "Wick Drain Stitcher" designed to drain the Valley floor by installing 80 foot wicks into the ground. Caltrans and the Army Corps of Engineers are planning on wicking dry the Little Lake -Willits Valley, headwaters to the Eel river in pre-construction (destruction) of a $300,000,000 obsolete bypass project which will re-route Salmon bearing streams, destroy salmon spawning habitat, disturb returning Tule Elk which have in the last 3 years been making a comeback, as well as paving over hundreds of acres of ag and farm lands. All this is done while lying to the public about the real need for a bypass as Caltrans own traffic figures show a dramatic decline in traffic volume in the past ten years in Willits. All in the name of $$$$$GREED$$$$
