Winnie Laurel CONTROLLER, DOUBLETREE LAX / EL SEGUNDO BACKGROUND We are very happy to have Winnie join the Evo family at the Doubletree LAX as our property Controller. Winnie was born, raised, and attended school in Hawaii, earning a dual degree from University of Hawaii (a BS degree in Travel Industry Management and has a BA in Finance). An academic achiever, she also received a Master’s in Business from University of Phoenix-Hawaii campus. Winnie is “newly” married to her husband of four years and together they have one furry child – their cardigan corgi mix, Ein (short for Einstein). Winnie’s professional background started at a family-owned restaurant back at home, Keo’s, in Waikiki. That position led to an opportunity for Winnie to pursue and complete a management trainee program at Four Seasons Resorts Hualalai in Kailua-Kona. One year later, Winnie entered the accounting and finance world. She started out her career at Enterprise Rent-A-Car and later in commercial real estate (CBRE, Jones Lang LaSalle). Winnie eventually rediscovered her passion for the hospitality industry and joined a small hotel management company, Aqua Hospitality, where she has worked in both property and corporate accounting positions for the past four years. FUN FACTS CATCH HER IF YOU CAN Winnie is a foodie at heart - loving to try new restaurants and foods, but also to cook and bake at home. Her new found hobby for the past two years has been running marathons. Her long-term goal is to qualify for the Boston Marathon but, in the short-term, Winnie is excited to plan a trip to China to run the Great Wall Marathon with her friends in 2016. Winnie’s guilty pleasures: espresso, peanut butter, alternative rock, 80s music, and while she tends to cook and eat simple, healthy dishes, Winnie can be found splurging on pizza and ice cream after a good marathon. Winnie is an all-around sports fan with the 49ers being one of her favorite teams.
