...Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late Friday night through Saturday afternoon... * timing...some light snow is possible Friday afternoon and evening...but more significant wintry precipitation is likely late Friday night and continuing into Saturday. * Precipitation type...based on the current forecast track of the storm...mostly snow is expected near and north of a line from La Salle Peru to Chicago...with a mixture of freezing rain...sleet...and snow expected south of this line. Some potential exists for precipitation to change to all rain for a time Saturday south of the Kankakee River. Any change in the forecast track of the storm will likely result in changes in the expected precipitation types. * Accumulations...significant accumulations of ice and or snow are possible across the entire watch area. Some locations could see snowfall of 6 or more inches...while some other locations could see ice accumulations of a quarter inch or possibly a bit more. * Impacts...accumulating snow and ice will likely result in hazardous driving conditions. Travel through and to Chicago ohare and midway airports could also be significantly impacted. Precautionary/preparedness actions...
