Winter farmer’s market held in Springfield SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A snowy day turned into a big day for buying seasonal produce at Springfield’s winter farmers market. Twice each month during winter Western Massachusetts growers transform the former monkey house at Forest Park into a farmers market featuring locally produce. The winter market attracted a small but enthusiastic group of shoppers. Organizers told 22News these winter markets afford customers quite a selection. “We’re actually pretty lucky to have a lot of winter’s farmers markets in the area, and a lot of farms that are either storing or growing and planting food throughout the year. So you can get greens right in the middle of winter that are grown here in this area,” said organizer Claire Morenon The Network of Western Massachusetts farmers also sell their produce at farmers markets in Greenfield, Amherst and Northampton.
