Wireline Survives AT&T(TP Cebu Sportsfest) Team Wireline had to gut it out as it pulled out a thrilling 81-75 win vs. AT&T in overtime. Already losing the services of starting forwards Carlo Milan and Gebbie Bongo, the Bulldogs started cold, with AT&T point guard San Juan(sorry, dont know his first name) hitting two three pointers for a 12-5 lead. Timely scores from Eugene Paming, Junry Tapayan and Jose Ruiz enabled Wireline to inch closer, 13-14. The game went back and forth with the 2nd quarter ending 28-23, AT&T. Guarded closely the entire game by AT&T guards, Eugene was not able to produce the same output he had vs Caesars.With turnovers killing the momentum coupled with 5 three pointers from AT&T short shooter Jojo (dont know his last name), AT&Ts lead ballooned to 14, 42-28. Wireline went back to work thru three pointers from Einar Nole Battad and lay-ins from Jonathan Abella, Junry and Jose and they were able to close the gap to 48-42 by the end of the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter was a nip and tuck affair as both teams had several rallies, making it a very pulsating game. The game had another twist as starter Eugene got called for a controversial 5th foul with 4:30 minutes remaining, with AT&T leading 61-57. Wireline still had one last push led by three pointers from Einar Battad and steals from Abella and Tapayan leading to scores. Regulation ended with Wireline Star player Jose Ruiz defying all defenders thrown at him to tie the game, 67-all with 4.5secs remaining. AT&T failed to score which meant the game had to go thru overtime. Wireline caught fire in overtime and with all guns ablaze, managed to steal a win from a jaws of defeat, 81-75. I tried out being a sports journalist again but I words just cant describe the CHARACTER my teammates showed. They just had one more gear! Two more games guys! Heart and Character will make it possible for us!
