Wisdom Starts With Respect Fear of the Lord is the foundation - TopicsExpress

Wisdom Starts With Respect Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. Proverbs 1:7 (NLT) King Solomon begins the book of Proverbs by explaining its purpose - to teach wisdom, knowledge and discipline. In verse 7, he explains that the fear of God, or reverential respect for Him, is the foundation of true knowledge. You live in the Information Age. You are bombarded with so much knowledge from so many sources. Everybody wants to use knowledge to operate in wisdom, but most people end up making bad decisions when they trust their gut, upbringing, or advice from others. So how do you filter the true knowledge from the bad? When you truly reverence and respect God, you will study His Word. It will be your foundation. Anything else that does not line up with your foundation is rendered false and can be dismissed. Unlike the fool in verse 7, you will make wise decisions because you will consult God and be guided and disciplined by Him. Prayer: Father, I thank you for giving me the freedom and privilege to study your Word. I long to walk in your knowledge and wisdom. I commit to always maintain fear, reverence and respect for you by spending time with you in prayer and study every day. In the name of Jesus! Amen!
