***Witches of The VM***(imported post) The difference between black magic and dark magic is still debated among the wiccan community even, but from my studies I can tell you that there is an arguable difference. First I’ll explain the components of Dark Magic. Dark Magic, like I said before is a deceptive magic, it lures it’s subjects in with a promise for whatever they wish It acts like there is no limit to what it can achieve. It lies to you and tells you that you’ve been given false information. It makes you doubt those closest to you, those who have been trying to protect you from the lies it slithers into your mind. In other words… It corrupts you. Even books of the subject are said to have an allure to them. That’s a number one difference, but there are some others. Dark Magic has a tendency to make you believe that you are in control, when in truth, you’re not. Again, Dark Magic is responsible for things like spontaneous plague. It is a magic that no sane person would use since their own well being tends to cost from it. The reason Dark Magic needs to look attractive to the viewer is because Dark Magic gains strength and power by consuming the soul of it’s victim. It is the only known magic to really do that, and has been avoided by those who know better. If Dark magic has nothing to take life energy from, it weakens and can’t function, much like a parasite. As soon as it has a victim however it becomes extremely powerful because it has plenty of soul to eat and gather strength from. Most fools who use it are unaware of this happening, and when they do realize it’s most likely too late. In essence it’s almost it’s own life form. Black Magic on the other hand, does not corrupt, but that does not necessarily make it good. Black Magic, as I’ve been told, is a name for violent magic, or “Selfish” magic as outsiders call it. It can be used as a weapon in otherwords. But this does not necessarily make it bad. The biggest reason why Black Magic can’t be considered “Dark” is because you have a choice.
