With all of the anger and sadness and frustration I have been feeling the last few days, most of it at society in general, but some of it for personal reasons, I have needed to be shown some peace and hope and beauty. Everywhere I look, I have seen people standing together, yet others pushing apart. I have seen willful blindness and bigotry and prejudice, grief and rage; yet I feel a movement to love and accept and support those who have never felt it. We have a difficult road ahead as a country and as a people, but it would not be so difficult if we could just love. You lose nothing when you love. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. When we love, we increase the universe - love goes forth, yet does not leave us. It spreads and multiples and gives all things to all people. Love never fails. You may or may not believe in God or anything divine, but know this - if you do, God is love. If you dont, just love anyway. This is my favorite song, and I choose to interpret it this way: Emmanuel: God (Love) is with us. Israel: Saved by God (Love) O come, o come Love. And ransom (free) captive Israel (those who could be saved by love). Peace on Earth, and good will to ALL.
