With my new friend Shimi from Jaffa. You dont see many soldiers carrying arms on the street, but when you do nobody bats an eyelid. People are very friendly here and it is easy to strike a conversation everywhere. A religious student I just spoke with, Gershom, joked that I was sooooo lucky not to be born a Jew. He strongly discouraged me, tongue-in-cheek, from converting because a) I can be a good person just by following the 7 Noahide laws, and 2) keeping the 613 mitzvot (commandments) will turn my life into living hell! :) Thanks to such serendipitous acquaintances being in Israel gives me wings!
