With my playmates gone and headed back to Arkansas its back to work for me today. Crystal ended up staying with till Sunday when she will ride back with Dave. I think she was afraid I was going to lose it today. She wasnt to far off. I had meeting set up with our Caseworker on the Day Program and with the Director of the Beyond Therapy Program. I had questions about how our therapy was progressing and I wanted to check In to the next program to determine if we needed to stay her and continue on or go home. Our discharge date of 4/25 was set the day we started therapy. Its based on our goals, progress, and insurance . Ive been concerned about some of the activities that are included in our therapy day that dont make sense and seem to me a waste of valuable therapy time. Ive also been concerned that some of the goals that we set to accomplish werent being worked on. This of course is my perspective, and Im sure there are many views to be considered, but Jon David spent two hours today watching members of his group make rice crispy treats.......not exactly what I had in mind. In talking to the Beyond Therapy leader I already knew that this therapy (PT only) would only be 9 hrs. a week. The time can be supplemented with additional therapies, but OT wouldnt be available to him until 4 weeks out. Jon David can not afford to miss 4 weeks of therapy on his hands and arms. So when we weigh everything......the cost of living here, the current therapy program thats not going as expected, lack of OT in the future program, plus more........weve decided we will be coming home next Sat. Weve prayed about this a lot and asked for direction, and I think we received that answer several times today. I asked Jon David what he feels like we received during our time here. While we expected for him to be getting more work out time and getting stronger, what we have received instead is a lot of information to be used at home and shared with our therapists. The equipment that we came here for, expecting to use , we have not. So I will say that we are a little let down and confused by the approach and what I call the fluff in the program. We are NOT unhappy to be coming home. We are excited to be with our family, friends and our team of therapists So 1 week to go...... Much love to you all! Jacki
