With permission from Senator Howie Morales, I would like to share his comment with every educator in New Mexico. Heck, I want to share this with every person in the United States of America of how one voice can make a difference with the support of others! A huge thank you to Senator Tim Keller as well! From Senator Morales: Last year, I proposed SB 588 which would have created a fair and inclusive evaluation system for teachers in our state. While the measure passed both houses of the legislature, Governor Martinez decided to veto it. This issue is too important to let go. Our teachers deserve to be evaluated in a just way, using a system actually created by those who know what teachers go through on an everyday basis. Therefore, I am proud to announce today that I successfully removed SB 588 from the Secretary of States office and had it placed on the Senate agenda in order to override the Governors veto. Our teachers deserve better and I will do everything I can to continue to fight for them to be treated fairly. Thank Senator!!!
