With the chaos of the past week over, reality is setting in, and our individual grieving has begun. I keep expecting to receive a text: meet me out at 9 or what are you doing or come over and watch a movie (I never did that one; always felt like Id be encroaching on his and Kevs quality time). I think about the urban tribe of unqiue people, that in many ways, Joe was the leader of... As the shock wears off, the grieving starts, and reality sets in, I think about Kevin and the others of Joes grieving urban tribe and wonder what the future holds for the urban tribe he created over time. Some will remain connected through geographic and proximal relationships. Others will fade away without Joes presence to bind them to the larger tribe. Joe was more than the caretaker of our urban island of misfit toys, but also the soul of it. Just as Joe was larger than life, his sudden passing leaves a hole, that for many of us, is just as large. I wonder what to do next (as if I should be doing something to help) while sitting on the fringe of Joes tribe feeling...
