With the coming of the so-called National conference, the need for the North to unite together and speak with one voice in respective of our religious and tribal differences has never been more urgent than now. Divisions would only compound the pervasive sense of helplessness, dependency and vulnerability in the north and encourage those forces that consider the North decadent and doomed. If truly the current Northern leaders value the north,there is need for maintaining the unity and common purpose that give it both its meaning and its strength, the so-called National conference is the right place for such actions. The root of the argument is not about which approach to adopt to tackle the enormous challenges confronting the North, the main problem is none of our Northern leader is talking about how to address the problem of millions of Northern youths who have no jobs and are losing hope, or how to improve our collective security challenges. The continue strike by ASSU is seriously affecting our Northern youth more than any other region in the country. Also none of our present Northern politicians is interested in seeking solutions to the problems of growing unemployment, poverty, de-industrialization, deteriorating infrastructure, rising inequality, falling standards of education or decaying healthcare and above all the security challengers of the region etc. The one and only thing on the minds of these present Northern politicians is personal ambition, the pursuit of power and the senseless looting and primitive accumulation of wealths. Please, our Northern leaders, this is not the time to be afraid or timid because the challenges are so many which need collective approach to it. Now is the time to take collective decisions in the interest of the North and the country in general during the so-called National conference. Never the less, we should not loose hopes and we should not give up, we should continue to pray for a better Nigeria, In-Sha-Allah, Allah(SWT) would help US.
