With these paleo challenges come some absolute musts when you are doing them: 1 – Don’t cheat. No really, don’t cheat. If you cheat, especially within the first 21 days then you have to start over. The first 3 weeks is a vital clean out and necessary repairing of your intestinal lining. If you have one pinch of sugar or gluten, you have to restart the healing process. Also, you are trying to get rid of the food cravings. Same thing applies. Cheating = not getting rid of the cravings. So don’t do it!!! The last 4 weeks is to ingrain the healthy habits and start a life long change. 2 – Don’t cheat! You thought I was kidding????!!! Nope! Don’t do it! 3 – Looking great is good, but the overall health is what we are looking for here. The aesthetics is the side benefit of the gift you are giving yourself. 4 – Absolutely no sugar, grains, soy, dairy or gluten ….PERIOD! 5 – Ignore the naysayer, ignore the people that are telling you the following: *You’re getting too skinny (are these people for real, seriously shut up already) * One bite won’t hurt you (yes it will, they are liars!) *You’ll hurt their feelings if you don’t try it (get over it, it’s your health not theirs) *Oh my gosh, you’re depriving yourself (of what diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and on and on and on. You’re saving yourself! If they want to rot in bad health fine, but don’t let them push it on you.) 6 – You are worth it to feel great, have lasting good health, look good and teach your family wonderful habits to carry them throughout their lives. For me one of the ultimate disrespects we can do is hurt the body we were blessed with. If you choose to neglect your insides, it will manifest into illnesses, depression and all sorts of crapping things we would love to avoid. RESPECT yourself! 7 – It takes effort. You may have to miss your favorite tv show. It’s ok, they come out on DVD all the time. You can download them off the Internet. It’s not important, but you are. 8 – The “I slipped up” line. No you didn’t. You made a conscious choice to cheat, eat bad whatever. You chose, it wasn’t an accident. Take responsibility for your choices. 9 – This will change your life, so give it your all!!! 10 – Don’t cheat!
