With this beautiful weather and the unpacking that is still occurring I have not been doing as much reading as I should have. Chicago has filed for bankruptcy protection. Since the credit crunch of 2008 Chicago has lost almost a quarter of its population. With approximately a quarter of the population (250,000 people) having left since 2008 and another quarter at or below the poverty line Chicago is in serious trouble. Interestingly enough most of the US is starting to go through a housing boom with prices shooting up. Today the US is a study in contradictions that will hopefully correct itself in a good way as our largest trading partner has a very real effect on our economy! We as a country and a region are still doing well and there is no clear indication that our economy is going to be devastated as the US was.
