Witney Mens 3s 0 - 1 Bicester To start with, massive props to Bicester for filling in when Swindon pulled out of our planned friendly. They brought a full squad made up of a players from their 2s, 3s and i think 5s. So a good mix of players to give us a good test before league starts next week. We started very strong, with myself, Andrew Taylor and Joe Taylor (no relation) spurning good early chances. We kept the majority of the possession throughout the game with some lovely one touch hockey (i was messing around and it worked) through the midfield and some quality last ditch tackling from our defence. Unfortunately, we went 1 down part way through the first half by what can only be described as a moment of brilliance...the bicester lad struck the ball on the edge of the area, maybe a foot inside the pitch, as he was falling out of the pitch....and it curled into the far post. We initially thought he had hit the post but after judging keeper Si Howells reaction, the goal was given. After half we carried on as we left off, keeping the majority of the possession and mostly playing in their half, but bad decisions and rushed passes meant we didnt convert the chances we should have to equalise, and slipped to an unfortunate loss. DotD went to Grimmers...for putting his phone+match fee into what he thought was Joes bag, only for it to be a witney 1s players bag....and doesnt know whose. Motm is still TBC. Watch this space!
