Wonderful Spark! Love David Abbi and I were standing at the Walmart deli picking up a quick snack and an employee there was struggling to get just a dash of potatoes and a couple General Tao pieces as she said she wanted to make sure she had enough. It broke my heart, God has been SO GOOD to us, sure weve had our struggles like everyone, but Ive never had to struggle to eat lunch. I felt such a STRONG pull to give her something, so I had noticed a had a couple $5s in my purse, normally would have been converted to lunch dollars by now, but instead I gave Abbi a $5 bill and told her to go over to the girl who was struggling to not get too many potatoes and go over the little bit she had. Abbi was clueless to what was going on because she had been wandering around during all this, so she went over to the girl and said I dont know why but my mom said to give you this and the girls face just fell - she was speechless. The deli gal behind the counter had been offering to loan her a couple of dollars but the girl said she had no idea when she could pay her back and would rather not take the chance, so she was beaming that I had done that - I felt like I had done it for her and me both, we were moms and we couldnt stand seing this young lady struggle just to eat a tiny meal. I then learned after the young girl left that she had 2 little babies, an unemployed husband, and was about to have her car repossessed Tuesday. I wanted so badly to give her a check for her car but I knew we were getting over-extended and I dare not, but my heart just goes out that this is going on in our country right now and so many dont seem to care. When I was an undergrad in social science classes we talked a lot about NIMBY which stood for not in my back yard meaning that why should I worry about something that doesnt effect me directly. Apathy. Let me tell you, EVERY plight of EVERY person in our community DOES effect us, maybe not directly, not that youll ever know, but WE ARE OUR BROTHERS KEEPER. But for now I am just feeling glad God put me there to help that young mother who only needed lunch to continue to work for her family. God bless her, and please everyone - lets all say a prayer for the young mom at the deli counter who works at Walmart and needs Gods blessings....Thx
