Wonderful time at the Leland Grove School today, celebrating the life of James Knox Braboy, who was the heart and soul of the Leland School for Indians for almost 40 years. What a man; what a spirit; what a guide he was! His family, students and admirers gathered under the trees to commemorate the historic marker about the school and Mr. Braboy. Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Braboy was a mentor to English Jones, who went on to be the first Lumbee president/chancellor of what is now UNC Pembroke. The circle is unbroken. From Preacher Bob Mangums opening and eloquent prayer, to the singing of Mr. Brayboys favorite hymn, Beulah Land, it was all a sight to behold. Thanks to the Creator for Mr. Braboys life and witness, and for the blessing of this day. With Horace- Barbara Locklear
