Wondering what is new with Sacred Roots Birth and Wellness Center? We have been visioning! Sacred Roots Midwifery, LLC is seeking a 3000-4000 square foot home in a safe Indianapolis neighborhood located within 15 minutes of downtown. The location must be zoned commercial or be eligible for a commercial variance. Renovations will be made to the home to create three beautiful, private birthing suites. Each suite will have its own full bathroom with shower. Each room with have a built-in jetted tub with lights. Renovations will also include 2-4 exam rooms depending upon the layout of the space. At least one room will have an exam table. Other rooms may have just a comfortable couch or reclining chairs perfect for prenatal exams. There will be an open space to allow for classes and groups to meet. We anticipate babywearing, birth education, yoga, herbal medicine, support groups, and many more opportunities to take place in this space. Ideally, the birth center space will include rooms for other professionals to share space allowing for a full wellness center. Other professionals who come to mind include a nurse practitioner who will provide primary care to the newborn and whole family, chiropractor, acupuncturist, massage therapist, and counselor. The kitchen will be a warm, welcoming space where families may create delicious meals and snacks during their special time in the birth center. Welcoming children to the birth center will be a comfortable play area with fun toys as well as quiet books. The ideal birth center location will have outdoor space allowing for a small garden to grow herbs and flowers. If the yard is large enough, we dream of creating a labyrinth for relaxation, meditation, and a place for walking in early labor. The birth center will be a place to build community. Families who come to the birth center will feel a sense of belonging. Birth professionals will recognize the birth center as a place for networking and acceptance. Competition will cease as we all work together, creating community and a safe place for mothers, babies, and families. Sacred Roots Midwifery, LLC has been born from the strength and wisdom of the women who have come before us. The sassafras, tulip poplar, linden, and willow trees hold a special place in our hearts and will be prominent within the center. Ginny McAllister, MSN, a midwifery sister lost to cervical cancer will be honored and remembered in this space. We feel her graceful spirit with us always. We invite you to share in our dreams and our vision.
