Word for Today Topic: The mockery - times to endure Text: Job 12:4 I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn. Amen Gradually we are taking time through the key points in the story of Hannah in 1 Sam 1. We have considered mans love, the shut womb and now were on the mockery. In 1 Sam 1:6, Hannahs rival, Penninah mocked her because of her inability to bring forth children. She provoked her to make her fret. At a point Hannah couldnt bear it anymore and had to make a bold step to face her problem. Though there was the husband to console her during these times but consolation wasnt the answer to her problem. She needed something more permanent to be the answer - a child. But how was that going to be possible when her womb has been shut. Though Hannah wasnt aware of the reason for her barrenness, God knew and therefore Hannah had to turn to Him. The challenging part of our Christian walk is the time to endure the mockery during our difficult moments. Most times the test really isnt a big deal. Most people can endure the test if mockers are out of the scene. But this is usually not possible. As long as theres a challenge, there are people to make fun out of it. In our opening text, Job teaches us a very important thing; He calls on God to answer him whenever he is mocked. We cannot tell our adversaries to stop mocking us but we can always find a way to end our problems. When theres no problem, theres no mockery. We are not to give up just because it is taking too long. Dont give the adversary more reasons to mock you the more. As Christians, we are not disadvantaged in any way. We have a God who hears and answers us when we pray. Like Hannah, go to Him in prayer. You have had enough of the mockery. It is time your mockers see your God in action, call on Him.
