Word for today: jejune. It means naïve, simplistic, superficial, juvenile, immature, uniformed, lacking nourishment. Usage: Some of his [Richard Dawkins] forays into philosophy [in The God Delusion] are at best sophomoric, but that would be unfair to sophomores; the fact is (grade inflation aside), many of his arguments would receive a failing grade in a sophomore class. Despite the fact that this book [The God Delusion] is mainly philosophy, Dawkins is not a philosopher (hes a biologist) ... much of the philosophy he purveys is at best jejune. - Alvin Plantinga, Professor of Philosophy Emeritus, University of Notre Dame P.S. The God Delusion makes me embarrassed to be an atheist. - Philosopher of science Michael Ruse, formerly at University of Guelph, now at Florida State University
