Word has been received that Donaldson Hall will finally be preserved. This is wonderful! I had several conversations with former Chancellor Rau about the building, as well as advocating for its preservation with Chancellor Capdeville; there is a letter in my Donaldson file stating such. Several years ago, Lou Lucke and I went inside and took photographs of the interior, including the upper floors, and it was truly a crying shame the rest of the building was not being used. When it closed down in 2008, I was very disappointed to say the least, as I felt and still do that the restored ball room or "commons" was an underutilized gem for meetings, receptions, and other get-togethers and not necessarily for those connected to the college. I hope nothing but the best for the future, because the building is solidly constructed and built to last.
