Words for knowing God and Enlightenment Apart from spelling them one way, given words only have the meaning an individual listener can attribute to them.. Concepts like home or family (when seeking precise and exact definition) are always uniquely and personally defined and yet we can comfortably use indefinable conceptual words like this quite comfortably for hours... Especially names of places we have been... e.g. When we each say refer to Philadelphia or “University of Oxford” we cant possible mean the precise thing in terms of individual holistic personal experience.. And GOD is such a word.. Each individual who uses that word has his/her own perspective on GOD or whatever name he/she/it might have.. YET AT THE SAME TIME its reasonable for a religious cleric to prescribe fidelity to One True God along the lines of You ought only have the One True Wife, she alone and no other ... This certainly doesnt imply she is the SAME woman.. but her being absolutely the true one and only women in ones life… Napoleon Bonaparte said “the woman you love is the most beautiful woman in the world” – which is both a valid “prescription” and a “universally accurate description”. In seeking Enlightenment (God) we can conceivably agree and disagree on our individual personal specifications – Like a child we can make our personal check box list of “vital statistics” .. but a problem here is once things are listed in this way, these become a maximum rather than minimum specification and the more industrial and business-like efficiency in the production and delivery the more minimal the realisation ... One would indeed be most browned off if our “perfect life” consisted entirely of playing a harp on a cloud, “walking on water”, “healing the sick”, “turning water into wine” “inspirational speaking” and being “reviled, scoured and crucified”.. Language and linear analysis tends to converge thought to a point.. and is EXCELLENT for creating a model and “forensic analysis” of the past for journalistic reports, witness statements and social interaction with other human beings. However a recorded observation alone excludes the infinity of alternative possibilities. In remedy there is another completely INVERTED style of thinking for when linear analysis is useless and ABSURDLY INAPPROPRIATE which is applicable to “modelling the dynamic of the now” and “working in the domains of creative change” and invention. I call this “Holistic Divergent Thinking” which rather than intensely focussing on a narrowing of definitions towards particularities, seeks to expand and encompass future possible paths as a “myriad” of alternative possible conscious and deliberative choices and to strive to be alert, conscious and aware of all possible outcomes at the same instant of time.. So like writing a sentence.. (or improvising music) once written it inevitably becomes a linear and singular “hard copy” statement up to the last word or note. But if creative and authoring (rather than reciting, copying and imitating) the NEXT word or note can (admitting mistakes) be any (keyboard characters) and in life almost anything within the dynamic range of personal human imaginative composition and expression… The past may be a single narrow and indelible line.. but for the “enlightened creative”, the instantaneous future is an open field of “infinite dots to join” (there are no dots!) and “the future path” is not a closed in dotted line but “hugely broad and widening, horn or fan shaped ”.. To apply “Imaginative Holistic Divergent Thinking” to the past is as equally ABSURD and UNPRODUCTIVE as to apply linear thinking to imaginative creativity and invention in the present… Mixing these modes of thinking causes thinking people much unhappiness and dissatisfaction..
