Working at sea is a job like no other in this world, literally in this world. You will have to experience devastating effect of hurricanes, typhoons or cyclones or whatever you call them yet you need to be strong, you need to survive as with the ship your are with. The pictures here is showing beauforth force 8 to 9, not as strong as I experienced with force 12 (maximum) when our ship is in between to low pressures. Seafarers are known to survive whatever nature put on their way. Battered by heavy seas, ships heavily rolling and pounding, ship I would say is a proving ground. But you know what, this is not what seafarers really are afraid of. There are much more stronger than typhoons, hurricanes or cyclones. Which many seafarers surrenders and sometimes due to overwhelming effect, end up their life. Typical example of this is being betrayed by someone who are very dear to them, or lost of someone whom they could not live without. Its the pyschological effect of these instances causes many seafarers fold onto their knees. I have seen many of this instances, it is not because seafarer is undergoing hardtimes that they surrender, but it is due to inability to do anything as they could not defend their feelings, they could not immediately go home, they have not given the chance to prove their worth. But seafares who do survive this dilemmas became seasoned seafarer. Many people do not understand seafarering life, they do not know the sacrifices and the feeling of being away with loveones in the middle of the sea...... As a seafarer, I salute every seasoned seafarer in the whole world. You are just wonderful.
