Working together to sustain and pass on Hellenic heritage to the next generation--thats what the National Hellenic Society (NHS), Heritage Greece Program and MyParea are all about. Heres tonights reception for the 50 college students sponsored by the NHS to go to Greece tomorrow to spend two weeks with a peer group of students from the American College of Greece. We are so delighted that the President of the American College of Greece, David Horner and his first lady, Professor Sue Horner were in DC to greet the students. Were also delighted that several leading voices in the Greek American community came together to meet, greet and wish the students a wonderful trip including Nick Larigakis, President of the American Hellenic Institute and NHS member, Mike Manatos, OXI Foundation and member of the NHS, Basil Mossaidis, Executive Director of AHEPA and dear friend of the NHS and John Sitilides, Executive Director Emeritus, Western Policy Center, U.S. State Department advisor & principle of Trilogy Advisors and expert, commentator and author on on S.E. European affairs. Tomorrow the students visit several DC landmarks including meetings with Congressional staff, tours and leave for Greece--we wish them joy, Gods speed and protection and wonderful lasting memories on this odyssey of self-exploration of their Hellenic roots, heritage, culture & identity. Cheer them on--keep them in your prayers and thanks to NHS members for keeping the Glory that IS Greece alive and well!
