World Bank Collaborates With Delta To Create Employment Posted by: Channels Television Posted date: July 29, 2013 In: Current, Local | comment : 0 Comments and 0 Reactions The Delta state government is set to engage over 400 unemployed and unskilled youths as well as supervisors between the ages of 18 and 35 years in the first phase of Youth Employment through small and public works and sub component of the State Employment And Expenditure Results (SEEFOR) in collaboration with the World Bank. The conference hall of the ministry of finance, at the state secretariat witnessed a large number of able bodied men, women and youths drawn from the twenty five local government areas of the state to participate in the awareness and sensitization forum held by the state in partnership with the world bank on State Employment And Expenditure For Results (SEEFOR) anchored by the ministry of finance in conjunction with the ministries of youth and women affairs. The commissioner for Finance, Olorogun Kenneth Okpara who was flanked by the commissioners of Women Affairs and Youth, Mrs Betty Efekodah and Mr Ebifar Ijeoma alongside the Head of Service, Sir Okey Ofili started the sensitization awareness by explaining in details the objectives and scope of SEEFOR and how the unemployed youths in various communities can benefit from the project. Olorogun Okpara further pointed out that the World Bank is providing the funds for the unemployed to start off with, the sum of N18,000 will be paid to beneficiaries monthly for a period of five years. The Commissioner for youths, Mr Ebifar Ijeoma emphasized the various structures that have been put in place by the youth directorate to ensure that unemployed youths from each of the twenty five local government councils benefit from this project; Mr Ebifar however, urged them to be duly registered with the directorate of youths. SEEFOR is expected to impact the lives of Delta youth by supporting them to gain requisite skills that can make them employable and have access to socio-economic services while improving public expenditure management systems of the participating states.
