World Bank country representative Kundhavi Kadiresan says that agricultural growth offers the possibility of enhancing the livelihoods of the poor. Speaking during the launch of national launch of the investment support fund (ISF) of the irrigation development and support project(IDSP) in Lusaka today, Ms Kadiresan says that crop yields are generally very low, and in years when rains fail, family members often go hungry. She says that productivity gains would come from improved farming practices including irrigation saying that investments in agricultural water and finance for irrigated agricultural are critically needed to drive growth in the sector.
