World Food Day (16 Oct, 2014) According to plan it was decided that we will celebrate World Food Day on 16 October, 2014 with 180 children and 15 staff members of St. Joseph’s School, Saeed Colony, Multan. Purpose of selecting this school for this program was to facilitate the children of this school, because they are living in very remote area of Multan city. Surroundings of this school are covered by brick factories. Most of the children, studding in this school belongs to poor families. Their parents are doing labor to fulfil the needs of themselves and their families. Mr. Youhana & teachers welcomed Caritas staff at St. Joseph’s School. Program started at 11:00 am with prayer by Babu Sadiq Louise. Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Sharif (Parish Priest, Cathedral Parish), Mr. samuel Clement (Executive Secretary, CPM), Mr. Ambrose Gill (Coordinator, Peace Building Project, CPM) and Mr. Amir Yaqub (Coordinator, Livelihood Program, CPM) were the Caritas Team, which participated in this program. Mr. Amir Yaqub shared the history of World Food Day and what is the purpose behind celebrations of world food day. He shared that today we have to think that being a student what could be our role in eliminating poverty and hunger from the world. If every one of us simply completes his duties honestly, we will be able to achieve our goal. Speech competition was conducted among children on “How we can finish poverty from our society”. Seven children took part in this competition. Cash prize was distributed among first, second and third positions and two special prizes were given to two more children. Children of 5th class presented tubule on elimination of poverty from society. Pack of pencils, rubbers and sharpeners was distributed among the children of small classes. At the end lunch boxes were distributed among all children of the school.
