Reflecting on last night. Yall have no idea how special this moment was. Praises to that great Spirit whom we call God. On a late night close to the midnight hour my son, who was in the storm of great adversity asked God to help him take care of his family. His hands were wet from washing dishes because hes the kind of man that helps out wherever he can. He was urged to go to the computer and check to see when applications opened for Firefighter training. To his astonishment applications closed at midnight. He KNEW he was CALLED to apply and he did. Thousands did. It is a long and selective process. He made the first cut and was invited to test. Passed. Half of the applicants are eliminated at testing. Invited to interview, made connection, invited to test physical ability. More than half of them, eliminated. 10 months of rigorous medical, physical and fire training with unbelievable obstacles at his every turn. He endured, he made it. He answered the call and gave his all. We know he will be a blessing to all the lives he touches in this life of service. A chosen few. Our lives are forever changed. May God continue to bless and guide you Derrick Murphy Jr. I love you son.
