Worlds Tallest Building Gets Worlds Highest Observation Deck The tallest building in the world is now home to the highest observation deck in the world. Beginning Wednesday, a new deck on the 148th floor of the 2,717-foot-tall Burj Khalifa in Dubai is open to tourists. The view is 1,821 feet above street level, earning it the record for the highest observation deck on the planet, according to Guinness World Records. For comparison, the highest deck at New Yorks Empire State Building is 1,250 feet above street level on the 102nd floor — although most visitors just go to the 86th floor open-air observatory.
