Worshiping God In Heaven You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased. (Revelation 4:11) Moving from conditions of the churches in Asia to the future of the universal church, John sees, has a vision, the course of coming events in a way similar to Daniel and Ezekiel. Many of these passages contain clear spiritual teachings, but others seem beyond our ability to understand. Like many Christians, there is much I do not understand as the Book of Revelations is written in an apocalyptic style (symbolic pictures that vividly convey an idea). As I move from trying to grasp the meaning of this style of writing and take a holistic viewpoint, I am humbled by Gods personality and His characteristics. Oh yes indeed, God does have His own personality! Through out the Holy Bible, Scripture reveals much of Gods character. He is sovereign, with unlimited power and independent authority. He is greater than any power in the universe, for He is The Creator. God can not to be compared with any leader, government, or religion, even though many try. Gods sovereign strength prevails; he will judge His enemies and restore His true people. He will bring His true family safely into eternal life. Our God is Holy and morally good. God uses His Power to his own moral perfection. He is honorable, trustworthy, and His justice will prevail as He will defeat all evil in the end. God is all-powerful and He is always in control. He directs, preserves, and maintains His created order. Gods activities in heaven are shaping the events on earth. Although we dont see it, God is divinely governing the moral and political affairs of His people. He controls history for the purpose of uniting true believers in loving fellowship with Him. God is love! His splendor and radiance is demonstrated by His unconditional compassion for us. For me, the Book of Revelation promises Gods love and protection for His true Christian people. He is our vindicator against all evilness. Look past all the events reserved for the wicked and focus on Gods promised blessings. Oh how loving our Father is as He marks and preserves His people thus preserving and bringing us into eternity with Him. We praise you Father for your tender mercies. The ultimate goal of Gods saving plan it that everything in creation will glorify Him. We glorify God because His glory is true and real, and we acknowledge His greatness. We glorify Him in our singing, our speaking, and our living. We also experience some of His transcendence and thus edify and uplift our own spirits. Glorifying God prompts us to moral action and loving service as we humbly connect with His Spirit. The point of this chapter is this...All creatures in heaven and earth will praise and honor God because he is the creator and sustainer of everything. We must live in obedience to Jesus Christ, the coming Conqueror and Judge of all. As we witness global changes, remember this - The purpose of Gods judgment is to correct us, save us, and defeat evil. Ultimately, this is to allow perfect peace and righteousness to reign on earth forever.
