Wouldnt it be better if the value of an idea wasnt attached to how much money it can make investors, but rather how much value it has to the well being of humankind? Think of how we decide what products to use, what fuels to use, what foods we eat...its not based on whats best, but whats marketable. This creates a society of consumerism, where advertising is used to manipulate human desire and impulses to increase the profit margin of a brand. Look at what that mentality has done to science and research, twisting it around bottom lines and profitability until the average person cant tell up from down from all the misinformation and pseudoscience being pumped out to confuse the public and deflect rational criticism of harmful products.
