Wow! Is it any wonder our kids grow up often having no idea what real food is, or how to build a plate thats healthy? Im ashamed of our system. And that ketchup apparently qualifies as a vegetable. I dont know how parents handle this - sending kids to school where the standard in the US is literally a plate/tray of crap. Ive got my take, and it isnt pleasant - whats your take? How do you handle this as a parent? Do you send your kid with lunch and hope he or she eats it? Do your kids go to alternative schools with better options? Do food allergies keep your kids away from the nonsense most US schools call food? Oh, and for anyone who feels like eating fish or fermented foods is icky, guess who is eating that stuff every day without issue? Thats right, kids around the world. Real food is not icky or gross, it needs to be on our plates from the time were young. Dont force your own ick-factor issues onto your kids. I was fed liverwurst and pickled fish as a kid, and boy am I glad! Sure, I went through a phase of rebelling and not eating it, but I came back around now. And while organ meats arent the bulk of my diet, Im not scared of them. Thanks, mom
