Wow what a day in the Endurance at WEG in Normandy! Australia was well represented in the top 20 placings. Mulawa Angelus and his rider Wipawan (number 159) finished in 09:55:47 to place an outstanding 14th out of the 165 starters. The 160km ride through some of the most picturesque country in Europe proved very tough on most of the combinations with many dropping out during the first 2 loops. The weather in the lead up to the event had not helped with heavy rains making the track very muddy & slippery. The third and fourth loops took the riders along the beautiful coast line with crowds standing at Jullouville in what appeared to be a picture perfect day at the beach. Greg, Julie,Jane & Kate Farrell were at Jullouville to watch the Mulawa Angelus pass by with Wipawan riding proud. For the Farrell family it was a very special moment to be standing on the beach watching as this outstanding grey gelding sired by the great Ts Al Malik from the Vision daughter M Angelique make wonderful progress in what was the biggest ride to date in his career. As the afternoon went on the duo made up placings starting out in 33rd position after the first loop, then moving into 14th by the final leg. To Mr Prutirat R. Serireongrith the owner of Mulawa Angelus and his amazing rider Wipawan Pawitayalarp we congratulate you both on the amazing success with Angelus at this World Equestrian Games. Mulawa could not be more proud of Angelus. Also a huge congratulations to Australias Alexandra Toft who finished in 19th position! What an outstanding result, Alexandra and her horse Charlotte TE came from 60th position in the first loop to finish in the top 20. Another Australian success of the day is the winner and leader from the start Yamamah ridden by the UAE was also Australian bred. Congratulations to all the horses and riders that took part in 2014 WEG Endurance race.
