Wowahahoahwah. So, this is what apologetics looks like. This is a post by an author defending something about the New Testament. He starts with a lie - that hes a more famous author. He tells you he is lying and now admitting it, and that its alright because hes not lying. He then tells you the lie that youve been told all your life (that the world is told) is also alright because, well, now hes told you that too. these Gospels don’t ever claim to be written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. They are nameless. Go ahead. Check for yourself. I will wait. So, no. Christians who read and think dont think that these gospels were written by anyone in particular. Theyre assemblages by, Id wager, sects who put their best writer to the task of interpreting the floating about story of a leader in this parable. I started this post with deception. I wanted to illustrate how we can attempt to gain credibility by claiming authorship by a more credible source. If one were making up stories, I think we are safe in assuming that their conscience is already prepared not only to lie about the facts of the story, but also the source of the story. We see it every day. Yet in a world where this kind of stuff is common, the Gospel writers left their names out. And now, the hand-wringing. But, theyre all still entirely true. Get it? Its like reading a paper on vaccination. One thing at the top, an entirely different thing in the details. PTHTHTHTHTHTTH.
