Written by Mr. Dru Gardner,. Heres a little tidbit I wrote on the TWC Pro Series 185 Title fight between Shamir Garcia and Marcus Reynolds this Saturday. Im far from a MMA journalist, but was asked to share my insight: When we see the sports #1 promotion release the likes of Jake Shields, and pass on the opportunity for a fighter like Ben Askren, you have to wonder what the future holds for the Worlds first sport. What we are seeing with the evolution of modern MMA is a distinct separation of the classes. The fast, powerful, unorthodox, and advanced strikers are eventually going to rule the World. It can be argued that they already do. Take a look at the violence created by the UFCs Tyron Woodley if you dont believe. The fighters start on their feet, and the most popular athletes in this business, finish them right there as well. That obsession for modern MMA striking brings me to highlight a championship matchup at a regional promotion pitting Global Proving Ground fighter Shamir Bam Bam Garcia against Marcus The Invincible Dragon Reynolds on April 26th in Lansing, Michigan. These two are extremely violent fighters, with ZERO intentions of grinding out a decision. They intend to knock their opponent out in spectacular fashion, and Ill tell you why. Marcus Reynolds is a black belt in Choy Li Fut, a little known Martial Art that combines Northern and Southern Chinese Kung-Fu systems. Bruce Lee himself once said, Choy Li Fut is the most effective system for fighting more than one person, and it is one of the hardest to attack and defend against. With his 9-8 professional MMA record, 129-100 cumulative opponent record, and 8 of his 9 wins coming by way of brutal knockout, Reynolds is not playing around in the cage. His coach describes him as a real-life Kung-Fu action movie star. The Invincible Dragon is large, strong, extremely unpredictable, and very focused. A man of few words, he speaks with his fists, and is one of the most underrated, and dangerous fighters in the Country. Shamir Garcia is by far the most popular MMA fighter in Michigan. He carries a perfect 5-0 professional record, 4 KOs, and in his last bout at XFC 27, he dispatched a very game veteran Light Heavyweight Ray Lopez, who has a notable bout with Andre Arlovski, and wins over UFC veterans. Shamir was 19-2 in his amateur career with 8 MMA titles, and 5 Muay Thai titles. He is part of the legendary Coopers Gym in Michigan where he is able to fine tune his devastating striking game with some of the Worlds best. At 185 pounds Shamir is a wrecking ball with all 8 points of his body. Garcia has lightning fast reflexes, perfect technique, and explosive strikes from every angle. Shamir Garcia has something deep within him that only exists in 1 of 10 million people. Early in the Lopez fight Garcia was clobbered. Ray Lopez landed a sledgehammer on Garcias face that shouldve taken his head off. Instead, his recovery from the strike was inhuman. It seemed from that point on in the fight, Shamir could have finished Lopez any time. Instead he brutalized his opponent in every way possible, waiting until the 3rd round to finish the fight. As I sat cage side watching the carnage, it seemed like Shamir was punishing Lopez the entire time for hitting him once. This man is on a mission, I thought to myself. That thought happened to be right on point as we now see Shamir taking on another tough opponent for a regional Middleweight Title. With a win April 26th, and gold wrapped around his waist, Shamir Bam Bam Garcia could enter the World rankings as the newest prospect for a division that is in need of a monster like him. April 26th, Total Warrior Combat presents: Ego Trip at the Best Western Plus Grand Ballroom in Lansing, MI. The Middleweight Title fight between Marcus The Invincible Dragon Reynolds and Shamir Bam Bam Garcia guarantees to show the 2500+ MMA fans in attendance that modern MMA strikers are here to take their place at the top of the food chain.
