Wrote a new song yesterday - called Taking The Good With The Bad - the music is a bit more upbeat than my standard moody stuff - kind of James Taylorish - and the words far more straight forward than usual. An original lyrical approach absolutely escaped me but it says how I see my life now - despite some long and drawn out struggles, I cant help but be encouraged and thankful, because I am blessed in so many ways - one of the most striking being how God has allowed me to live my dream more and more of composing and playing music, more so now than any time in my life before. And my wonderful loving wifey that lights up the darkness with her constant love and support. 24 years together and it just keeps getting sweeter. How could I not be grateful about that? Answered prayers? I could type a good list. Be blessed out there! Im a man whose blessings are piled about 1 mile high But to the world I live in Im a loser in its eye I dont drive a shiny car and my house doesnt look too nice Ive been living with shadows that have made me pay the price But I know a little something that I can share with you How to take the good with the bad and learn to see it through I go to the man who paid my price and He says that I am free From all the traps and the pitfalls that wait around me He promises Hell help me when I feel oppressed I dont need to worry because Hes given His very best. He never promised that Id stay happy because life can be so sad But Ive learned to be content and take the good with the bad Now I dont like to sound religious or use the same old cliches But Jesus my Lord is with me each and every day Make room in your heart, believe, and Hell help you see the way To take the good with the bad and trust it will be okay. Trust in Jesus - it will be okay.
