Wynter Kabimba launches a scathing attack on the Electoral Commission of #Zambia | LT: lusakatimes/2013/07/26/wynter-kabimba-launches-a-scathing-attack-on-the-electoral-commission-of-zambia/ PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba has launched a scathing attack on the Electoral Commission of Zambia calling it mischievous after it raised concerns over the PF’s campaign tactics in the run up to Thursday’s Chipata Central parliamentary bye election. Mr. Kabimba accused the elections body of sympathizing with the opposition parties following its statement regarding the presence of Paramount Chief Mpezeni at a PF rally in Chipata. The ECZ had issued a statement raising concern after Paramount Chief Mpezeni spoke at a PF rally, an act they contended abrogated the Electoral Code of Conduct. The ECZ had also cautioned ZNBC after it aired a PF sponsored campaign documentary which over run than the 30 minutes recommended in the Electoral Code of Conduct. But Mr. Kabimba accused the ECZ of siding with the opposition and trying to supervise the operations of ZNBC which he says does not fall under its jurisdiction. “ECZ is being mischievous, they are trying to belittle President Michael Sata. This is the same ECZ with the same officers that allowed the MMD and ZNBC to carry hate speech against Sata and today, the man is Head of State and the ECZ still want to belittle the man,” Mr. Kabimba charged. He added, “There is nothing wrong with Paramount Chief Mpezeni attending a PF rally, there is nothing unreasonable about over running a political advert for a few minutes compared to what the MMD did in 2011.” He challenged some officers at the ECZ to resign on moral grounds for allegedly having worked against Mr. Sata’s 2011 bid for presidency. “If they are men and women of morals, they would have all resigned after the 2011 elections because they worked so hard against us. In fact we don’t believe they gave us the accurate results in the 2011 elections, we should have won that elections by more votes but the ECZ stole some of our votes, we should have had more.” Mr. Kabimba who is also Justice Minister said some officers at the ECZ do not have the moral authority to question the actions of the PF today because they allegedly supported what he called a rotten and obnoxious system under the MMD. He was speaking in Lusaka last evening when he featured on a live Special National Watch programme on ZNBC TV.
