X-Men: Apocalypse Will Be A Sequel to X-Men: First Class! Where does X-Men: Apocalypse pick up from X-Men: Days of Future Past? Thankfully, a publication spoke with director Bryan Singer who were able to provide the answers to those queries. First off, the new photos show Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) with his bone claws out, which makes sense since (SPOILER ALERT), in last years The Wolverine, Logans adamantium claws were sliced off by the Silver Samurai. However, Wolverine had two different magazine covers, one with bone claws, and one with his adamantium claws. How can this be? The answer, according to Bryan Singer, is Magneto (Ian McKellen). (Magneto could) reconstitute the adamantium claws. [Wolverine] has a different relationship with Magneto, and perhaps Magneto could forge them. It is believed that, with the mutants facing their greatest threat ever in The Sentinels, Magneto helps Logan get his indestructible claws back. As for Rogue, producer Simon Kinberg confirmed that her major sequence in the movie was cut. It was one real sequence in the movie. We felt like it was taking tension out of the main story drive. However, Bryan Singer teased that she will still pop up in the movie somewhere. It does not mean that we wont see her in the film. Also, I hope to make the sequence available on the DVD as she was quite wonderful in it. She is an important part of the X-Men family. I m very pleased she will remain as one of Empires anniversary covers. Its possible that Rogue still has a brief cameo or a small background role, but her big sequence wont be seen until the Blu-ray and DVD release. Bryan Singer also talked about the highly-anticipated follow-up to X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, which is set for release on May 27, 2016. In the Marvel comic books, Apocalypse is believed to be the first mutant ever created, which is what drew Bryan Singer to this particular story. One thing that interests me is the notion of ancient mutants. What would people thousands of years ago, without the benefit of science, think mutants were? And more importantly, what would mutants thousands of years ago think they were? Gods? Titans? Angels? Demons? And if such mutants did exist thousands of years ago, what became of them? Did one survive? (Its) more of a First Class sequel. (It will) take place some time after this movie. What happens in this movie brings about whatll happen in that movie. When asked about the rumored X-Men: Days of Future Past post-credit sequence, where Magneto (Michael Fassbender) becomes consumed by Apocalypse, Bryan Singer revealed that is not happening. Thats not the case, and nor will that particular thing be in the film. People were concerned we were making Apocalypse an alien. Its odd. I dont know where that came from. Simon Kinberg added that Age of Apocalypse was one of his favorite comic book stories, while adding that this story is much different than X-Men: Days of Future Past. Age of Apocalypse was one of my favorite stores. We like the stakes of it, and it feels like a story that could impact a lot of our favorite characters in big, dramatic ways. We feel its a very different story from Days of Future Past. For starters, its a very different villain, and the characters will be in very different places emotionally. X-Men: Days of Future Past comes to theaters May 23rd, 2014 and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman.
