YESTERDAY AFTERNOON: Hundreds of eager fans turned out at a church - TopicsExpress

YESTERDAY AFTERNOON: Hundreds of eager fans turned out at a church in Naivasha Town to catch a glimpse of their favorite Gospel Artistes. This was in response to announcements made Saturday from blaring speakers atop a pick-up truck that traversed the length and breadth of the lakeside town: Renowned and popular musicians would be coming to the said church to thrill the avid lovers of their music. It was a show that never was! The superstars didn’t show up and if you ask me, this is my opinion: the big names were used as a bait to lure us to the church for a much smaller event. My verdict with regard to the organizers: GUILTY of deceit… shame on them! The next time they intend to use the church as a launching pad for a newly-born musician, they should truly invite the big boys and girls and pay them… big names cost some big money. Some 200 metres down the same road (Kenyatta Avenue) at the AP Grounds, another event was on the cards. It was a praise-and-worship service organized by the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya. Here, there was more pomp, more color and more openness (not just because it was an open-air service). I thought the message that was emblazoned on the numerous banners, big and small, at this FGCK service, quite appropriate: “AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE” Need I say more?
