YGN PARLIAMENT - WATER DISTRIBUTION, ROAD UPGRADING & TRANSPORTATION ************************************************************************************** Yangon Region Parliament continued its 3rd day special session at the Parliament, Friday. The parliament discussed concerns ranging from needs of infrastructure to finance sector. One of the MPs asked water distribution from Joe Phyu water pipe line and its extension. Authorities replied there is a plan to dig 2 tube wells for some wards of South Dagon Township for 2014-2015 fiscal year. Afterwards, distribution of water and pipeline extension will be implemented to these townships, with the assistance of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Surveying tasks are underway and the project will commence in 2016-2017 fiscal year. It is targeted to complete in 2020-2021. Another question was concerned violation of traffic rules by city public buses. Officials said during the 11 months of this year, over 1000 buses were penalized due to violations. The Committee is now cooperating with organizations to ensure smooth transportation for passengers. Upgrading of roads in four townships were also discussed in the session and authorities confirmed a plan to improve these roads, hoped to be implemented in the coming fiscal year. Proposals on underground water application, housing, and agricultural loans were submitted.
