YHWH the God of ISRAEL VERSUS Allah THE God of Islam, WHO DECEIVED SATAN AND WHO IS A DECEIVER? BIBLE Who is Satan? Strongs definition of the Greek word translated Satan is: “the accuser, i.e. the devil”, Strongs definition of the Greek word translated devil is: “a traducer” (i.e. a slanderer, a false accuser) The devil and Satan is one and the same entity and is also called “the tempter” (see Matt 4:1-3 and vs. 10), the evil one (Matt 13:38), the great dragon and serpent of old (Rev 12). The Devil knows & uses & quotes Scriptures to promote false doctrine and deceptions (see Matt 4:1-11). He plants his people in the Kingdom (see Matt 13:38&39). He takes away the word of Gods from the heart of His people (Luke 8:10-13). He puts into the heart of men to do evil even to the extent of betraying the Son of God (John 13:2). He can oppress some to the point that they need healing (Acts 10:38-39). If you let the sun go down on your anger you give the devil an opportunity (Eph 4:25-28). He has schemes against us, i.e. he schemes against us (Eph 6:11-12). He is able to ensnare & hold people captive to do his will (II Tim 2:25-26). He is like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour (I Peter 5:8-9). He has works (I John 3:8-9). He deceives, i.e. he is capable of deceiving the whole world (Rev 12:8-9). He can enter into certain people (Luke 22:3-4). He can sift people like sifting wheat (Luke 22:31-33). He can fill your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:3). He has a dominion known as the dominion of darkness (Acts 26:16-18). To combat him is a sword fight; Jesus used Scripture to fight him and then told him to be gone (Matt 4:1-11). He has angels (Rev. 12:8-9). Satan falls when we use the authority & power given to us (Luke 10:17-20). We can be ignorant of his schemes (II Cor 2:10-11). He disguises himself as an angel of light (II Cor 11:12-15). Satan hinders us at times (I Thes 2:17-19). “Power”, “Signs”, & “False Wonders” can be performed by Satan (II Thes 2:9-10). Some Christians turn & follow Satan (I Tim 5:14-16). Satan has a synagogue & a throne (Rev 2:8-10 & 2:12-14). SATANS FIVE I WILLS (ISAIAH 14:12-15) 1. Satans five i wills: A. I will ascend into Heaven. This is the third Heaven, the Throne Room. Ill take Gods place. B. I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will rule angels. Job 38:7, Jude 13, Rev. 12:3, 4. C. I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation in the sides of the north. This is Earth as a place. Psalm 48:2 I will rule mankind. D. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds. Ill be supreme. He wills to displace God as the Sovereign of the universe. E. I will be like the Most High. Ill be like God. This is power lust. 2. Satans three falls: three stages of Satans fall. A. At the point of negative volition. During the five I wills, we have iniquity. Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28:15. B. At the middle of the tribulation. He is denied access to Heaven. Power lust. Revelation 12:9, Ezekiel 28:16. C. At the end of the tribulation. He is cast into the lake of fire. This is his final fall. Three falls to a finish. Matthew 25:41, Revelation 20:10, Ezekiel 28:18. 3. The angelic unseen conflict summary. A. God created angels with volition. (I wills) B. Satan acted independently of God. (The five I wills) C. One-third of the angels chose to follow Satan, making two categories of angels: elect and fallen. D. God sentenced Satan. Matthew 25:41. E. Satan impugned the character of God. How can a loving God cast His creatures into the lake of fire? Answer: Free will, volition. F. Gods answer: God created man with free will and volition. G. Every time a member of the human race, created a little lower than the angels, accepts Christ as Saviour, the character of God is vindicated and Satan loses the argument. Man was created to vindicate the character of God. God is fair. God is fair God is fair God is fair AND the just God Isa 45:21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Isa 41:22; 43:9; 44:7-8; 45:5,14,18; 46:9-10; 48:3,14 Holy, holy, holy Isa 6:3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. {one...: Heb. this cried to this} {the whole...: Heb. his glory is the fulness of the whole earth} Nu 14:21; Ps 72:19; Re 4:8 Ex 34:6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Nu 14:18; 2Ch 30:9; Ne 9:17; Ps 31:19; 57:10; 86:15; 103:8; 108:4; 111:4; 112:4; 116:5; 145:8; Joe 2:13; Ro 2:4 7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the childrens children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. Ex 20:6; 23:7,21; De 5:10; Jos 24:19; Job 10:14; Ps 86:15; 103:3-4; 130:4; Jer 32:18; Da 9:4,9; Mic 6:11; Na 1:3; Eph 4:32; 1Jo 1:9 IS YHWH OUR CREATOR, A DECEIVER? no I WAS ASKED, Does God incite David to conduct the census of his people (2 Samuel 4:1), or does Satan (1 Chronicles 21:1)? GOOD QUESTION This seems an apparent discrepancy unless of course both statements are true. It was towards the end of Davids reign, and David was looking back over his brilliant conquests, which had brought the Canaanite, Syrian, and Phoenician kingdoms into a state of vassalage and dependency on Israel. He had an attitude of pride and self-admiration for his achievements, and was thinking more in terms of armaments and troops than in terms of the mercies of God. The Lord therefore decided that it was time that David be brought to his knees, where he would once again be cast back onto the mercy of God. So he let him go ahead with his census, in order to find out just how much good it would do him, as the only thing this census would accomplish would be to inflate the national ego (intimated in Joabs warning against carrying out the census in 1 Chronicles 21:3). As soon as the numbering was completed, God intended to chasten the nation with a disastrous plague which would bring about an enormous loss of life (in fact the lives of 70,000 Israelites according to 2 Samuel 24:15). What about Satan? Why would he get himself involved in this affair (according to 1 Chronicles 21:1) if God had already prompted David to commit the folly he had in mind? It seems his reasons were entirely malicious, knowing that a census would displease the Lord (1 Chronicles 21:7-8), and so he also incited David to carry it through. Yet this is nothing new, for there are a number of other occurrences in the Bible where both the Lord and Satan were involved in soul-searching testings and trials: a) In the book of Job, chapters one and two we find a challenge to Satan from God allowing Satan to bring upon Job his calamities. Gods purpose was to purify Jobs faith, and to strengthen his character by means of discipline through adversity, whereas Satans purpose was purely malicious, wishing Job as much harm as possible so that he would recant his faith in his God. b) Similarly both God and Satan are involved in the sufferings of persecuted Christians according to 1 Peter 4:19 and 5:8. Gods purpose is to strengthen their faith and to enable them to share in the sufferings of Christ in this life, that they may rejoice with Him in the glories of heaven to come (1 Peter 4:13-14), whereas Satans purpose is to devour them (1 Peter 5:8), or rather to draw them into self-pity and bitterness, and down to his level. c) Both God and Satan allowed Jesus the three temptations during his ministry on earth. Gods purpose for these temptations was for him to triumph completely over the very tempter who had lured the first Adam to his fall, whereas Satans purpose was to deflect the saviour from his messianic mission. d) In the case of Peters three denials of Jesus in the court of the high priest, it was Jesus himself who points out the purposes of both parties involvement when he says in Luke 22:31-32, “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” e) And finally the crucifixion itself bears out yet another example where both God and Satan are involved. Satan exposed his purpose when he had the heart of Judas filled with treachery and hate (John 13:27), causing him to betray Jesus. The Lords reasoning behind the crucifixion, however, was that Jesus, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world should give his life as a ransom for many, so that once again sinful man could relish in the relationship lost at the very beginning, in the garden of Eden, and thereby enter into a relationship which is now eternal. Thus we have five other examples where both the Lord and Satan were involved together though with entirely different motives. Satans motive in all these examples, including the census by David was driven by malicious intent, while the Lord in all these cases showed an entirely different motive. His was a benevolent motive with a view to eventual victory, while simultaneously increasing the usefulness of the person tested. In every case Satans success was limited and transient; while in the end Gods purpose was well served furthering His cause substantially. Jer 4:10 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul. Jer 5:12; 14:13; Eze 14:9; 2Th 2:11 COMMENT Thou hast deceived this people; allowed them to be deceived by false prophets. This was a judgment sent upon them by God for loving falsehood rather than truth. Compare 2Th 2:11-12. The most dreadful judgment upon a people is, that God should give them up to the delusions of false teachers, who flatter them in sin, and promise them peace in the way of transgression. Jer 20:7 ¶ O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me. {was deceived: or, was enticed} Jer 1:6-7; La 3:14 COMMENT Deceived me; persuaded me to undertake the prophetical office, and thus brought upon me such contempt and suffering as I did not foresee. These words are inconsiderate and impatient: God had fully forewarned him at the beginning ofhis ministry of the persecution which he should encounter. Stronger than I, and hast prevailed; how, is explained in Jer 20:9. To endure derision and abuse for the truths sake, with few or none to countenance and encourage us, is a sore trial. Under its pressure the best of men are liable to lose their patience, and indulge in unbecoming complaints concerning Gods providence. 2Th 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, De 13:1; Mt 24:24; Joh 8:41; Eph 2:2; Re 13:13; 18:23; 19:20 After the working of Satan; by his aid, and like him deceitful, crafty, and wicked. Lying wonders; pretending to work miracles when they do not, and the pretence is a lie designed to delude the ignorant. 9-12. Satan has had much to do in the rise and progress of popery, and now has much to do in sustaining it, by wars and bloodshed, persecution and cruelty, deceit and falsehood, and by those pretended miracles and lying wonders, by which multitudes, who receive not the truth in the love of it, are deceived to their destruction. 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 2Co 2:15; 4:3 Deceivableness of unrighteousness; all deceitful arts and practices to promote their selfish and unrighteous schemes. In them that perish; added to show over whom the wicked and lying arts of the man of sin have power. Because they received not; still further added to show why the men just spoken of perish. It is the truth; did not give the truth a loving reception, because they hated it and chose error in its stead. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 1Ki 22:22; Eze 14:9; Mt 24:5,11; Ro 1:24; 1Ti 4:1 For this cause; because they hate and reject the truth. Shall send them strong delusion; permit it in his providence to come upon them as a righteous judgment for their hatred and rejection of the truth. Believe a lie; those lying wonders and false immoral doctrines propagated by the man of sin, to the deceiving and ruining of multitudes who take pleasure in unrighteousness. 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. Ro 1:32 Job 12:16 With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his. Job 12:13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding. {With...: that is, With God} COMMENT Are his; they are under his control, and all their circumstances directed by him. 17 He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools. 2Sa 15:31; 17:14,23; Isa 19:12; 29:14; 1Co 1:19 A LYING SPIRIT FROM GOD? 1Ki 22:22 And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. Jg 9:23; Job 12:16; Eze 14:9; 2Th 2:11 Verse 22. Go forth, and do so.] This is no more than, God has permitted the spirit of lying to influence the whole of thy prophets; and he now, by my mouth, apprises thee of this, that thou mayest not go and fall at Ramoth-gilead. Never was a man more circumstantially and fairly warned; he had counsels from the God of truth, and counsels from the spirit of falsity; he obstinately forsook the former and followed the latter. He was shown by this parable how every thing was going on, and that all was under the control and direction of God, and that still it was possible for him to make that God his friend whom by his continual transgressions he had made his enemy; but he would not: his blood was therefore upon his own head. 23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee. Eze 14:9 Verse 23. The Lord hath put a lying spirit] He hath permitted or suffered a lying spirit to influence thy prophets. Is it requisite again to remind the reader that the Scriptures repeatedly represent God as doing what, in the course of his providence, he only permits or suffers to be done? Nothing can be done in heaven, in earth, or hell, but either by his immediate energy or permission. This is the reason why the Scripture speaks as above. GOD SENT AN EVIL SPIRIT? Jg 9:23 Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech: 1Sa 16:14; 18:9-10; 1Ki 12:15; 22:22; 2Ch 10:15; 18:19; Isa 19:2,14; 33:1 COMMENT Verse 23. God sent an evil spirit] He permitted jealousies to take place which produced factions; and these factions produced insurrections, civil contentions, and slaughter. 1Sa 16:14 ¶ But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him. {troubled: or, terrified} Jg 9:23; 16:20; 18:10; 1Sa 11:6; 18:10,12; 19:9; 28:15; Ps 51:11 Comment: Verse 14. The Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul] He was thrown into such a state of mind by the judgments of God, as to be deprived of any regal qualities which he before possessed. God seems to have taken what gifts he had, and given them to David; and then the evil spirit came upon Saul; for what God fills not, the devil will. An evil spirit from the Lord] The evil spirit was either immediately sent from the Lord, or permitted to come. Whether this was a diabolic possession, or a mere mental malady, the learned are not agreed; it seems to have partaken of both. That Saul had fallen into a deep melancholy, there is little doubt; that the devil might work more effectually on such a state of mind, there can be but little question. There is an old proverb, Satan delights to fish in troubled waters; and Sauls situation of mind gave him many advantages. YHWH IS THE FATHER OF SPIRITS Heb 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? Nu 16:22; 27:16; Job 12:10; Ec 12:7; Isa 42:5; 57:16; Zec 12:1 Nu 16:22 And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation? Nu 14:5 FEAR YHWH ONLY Mt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Isa 8:12-13; Lu 12:4; 1Pe 3:14 ISLAM IS ALLAH A DECEIVER? ????????? Examining Satan’s Accusations Against the Integrity of Allah Quran teaches outright that Allah is capable of lying and deceiving people. In fact, one of the titles which the Quran ascribes to Allah is khayru al-makireen, that Allah is the best deceiver/schemer/conniver (cf. S. 3:54; 8:30). We want to continue our discussion regarding Allah being a deceiver by examining what the Quran says supposedly took place in paradise between Allah and Satan (called Iblis in the Quran) at the time of Adam’s creation. The Quran claims that Allah commanded all the angels to worship Adam, which Satan did not do, prompting Allah to ask him the reason why: (Allah) said: O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators? [Iblis (Satan)] said: I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. (Allah) said: Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one). [Tafsir At-Tabari] And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection). [Iblis (Satan)] said: O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected. Allah said: Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, Till the Day of the time appointed. [Iblis (Satan)] said: O my Lord! Because YOU MISLED ME, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them. (Allah) said: This is the Way which will lead straight to Me. Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. S. 15:32-44 What makes this exchange rather shocking is that Satan accuses Allah of deceiving or misleading him! Here is what the text in question exactly says: [Iblis (Satan)] said: O my Lord! Because you misled me (aghwaytanee), I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead (walaoghwiyannahum) them all. S. 15:39 Note the various translations of this specific text by the different versions of the Quran: Said he, My Lord, for Thy perverting me … Arberry [Satan said]: My Lord, since you misguided me, … Majid Fakhry - An Interpretation of the Quran (approved by Al-Ahzar University) Lord, said Satan, since You have thus seduced me, … N.J. Dawood My Lord, since you have misled me, … Thomas Cleary He said, O my Lord! because thou hast beguiled me, … Rodwell He said, O my Lord! for that Thou hast seduced me ... Palmer [The devil] replied, o Lord, because thou hast seduced me, … Sale The parallel version of this story reads slightly different: (Iblîs) said: Because You have sent me astray (aghwaytanee), … S. 7:16 Here is how various versions translate this passage: Said he, Now, for Thy perverting me, … Arberry Satan said: Because You have misled me, … Fakhry Because You led me into sin … N.J. Dawood He said: Now, because Thou hast sent me astray, … Pickthall He said: Because thou hast thrown me out of the way, … Y. Ali He said, Since You have willed that I go astray, … Thomas Cleary He said, Now, for that thou hast caused me to err, … Rodwell said he, For that Thou hast led me into error, … Palmer The devil] said, because thou hast depraved me, … Sale Moreover, here is how some Muslim commentators explained S. 7:16: (He) Iblis (said: Now, because Thou hast sent me astray) just as You made me err from guidance, (verily I shall lurk in ambush for them) for the children of Adam (on Thy Right Path) the religion of Islam. (Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs; source; bold and underline emphasis ours) Said he, Now, because You have sent me astray (fa-bi-ma aghwaytani means bi-ighwaik, for Your sending me astray: the ba is for oaths, and the response of the oath is [the following]) verily I shall sit in ambush for them, that is, for the Children of Adam, on Your straight path, that is, on the path that leads to You. (Tafsir al-Jalalayn; source; bold and underline emphasis ours) What makes this even more interesting is that this particular word is always used in its various forms with a negative connotation: Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). S. 15:42 And recite (O Muhammad) to them the story of him to whom We gave Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), but he threw them away, so Shaitan (Satan) followed him up, and he became of those who went astray (alghaweena). S. 7:175 Then they both ate of the tree, and so their private parts appeared to them, and they began to stick on themselves the leaves from Paradise for their covering. Thus did Adam disobey his Lord, so he went astray (faghawa). S. 20:121 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring…Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). S. 26:91, 94 So he became afraid, looking about in the city (waiting as to what will be the result of his crime of killing), when behold, the man who had sought his help the day before, called for his help (again). Musa (Moses) said to him: Verily, you are a plain misleader (laghawiyyun)! S. 28:18 Those about whom the Word will have come true (to be punished) will say: Our Lord! These are they whom we led astray (aghwayna). We led them astray (aghwaynahum), as we were astray (ghawayna) ourselves. We declare our innocence (from them) before You. It was not us they worshipped. S. 28:63 So we led you astray (aghwaynakum) because we were ourselves astray (ghaweena). S. 37:32 Your companion (Muhammad) has neither gone astray nor has erred (ghawa). S. 53:2 And because Allah misled Satan the devil will now mislead others! [Iblis (Satan)] said: By Your Might, then I will surely mislead (laoghwiyannahum) them all, S. 38:82 It is, therefore, clear from the foregoing that Satan was raising a serious charge against Allah’s character by basically identifying him as one who perverts, deceives, or misleads people from the true path! It seems that the reason why Iblis felt that he had been misled is because Allah condemned him for not obeying a command which was given to the angels: And (remember) when We said to the angels: Prostrate yourselves before Adam.. And they prostrated except Iblis (Satan), he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allah). S. 2:34 And surely, We created you (your father Adam) and then gave you shape (the noble shape of a human being), then We told the angels, Prostrate to Adam, and they prostrated, except Iblis (Satan), he refused to be of those who prostrate. S. 7:11 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him. So, the angels prostrated themselves, ALL OF THEM together. S. 15:28-30 And (remember) when We said to the angels: Prostrate yourselves to Adam. They prostrated (all) except Iblis (Satan), who refused. S. 20:116 And (remember) when We said to the angels: Prostrate unto Adam. They prostrated except Iblis (Satan). He said: Shall I prostrate to one whom You created from clay? S. 17:61 (Remember) when your Lord said to the angels: Truly, I am going to create man from clay. So when I have fashioned him and breathed into him (his) soul created by Me, then you fall down prostrate to him. So the angels prostrated themselves, ALL OF THEM: S. 38:71-73 Note that both Suras 15 and 38 expressly say that ALL the angels prostrated in obedience to Allah’s directive. Yet according to the Quran Iblis is a jinn, not an angel! And (remember) when We SAID TO THE ANGELS; Prostrate to Adam. So they prostrated except Iblis (Satan). He was one of the jinns; he disobeyed the Command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblis) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zalimun (polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc). S. 18:50 In light of the foregoing, why did Allah blame Satan for not obeying an injunction which was imposed upon the angels and not the jinn? And doesn’t this demonstrate that Satan had a valid argument against Allah for being deceptive and misleading the devil since he blamed him for not obeying a command which wasn’t directed to him at all? Satan may have also felt misled because of the fact that Allah condemns the worship of creatures: Surely, those who are with your Lord (angels) are never too proud to perform acts of worship to Him, but they glorify His Praise and prostrate before Him. S. 7:206 And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Prostrate not to the sun nor to the moon, but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if you (really) worship Him. S. 41:37 So fall you down in prostration to Allah, and worship Him (Alone). S. 53:62 And yet here he was watching Allah command angels to worship a creature! A Muslim may claim that Satan falsely accused Allah of leading him astray, that Satan’s words shouldn’t be taken at face value since he is a liar and a slanderer. The first problem with this response is that Satan doesn’t always lie but, as even the Islamic sources themselves admit, can speak the truth: And (remember) when Shaitan (Satan) made their (evil) deeds seem fair to them and said, No one of mankind can overcome you this Day (of the battle of Badr) and verily, I am your neighbour (for each and every help). But when the two forces came in sight of each other, he ran away and said Verily, I have nothing to do with you. Verily! I see what you see not. Verily! I fear Allah for Allah is Severe in punishment. S. 8:48 Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: The Prophet said, If while you are praying, somebody intends to pass in front of you, prevent him; and should he insist, prevent him again; and if he insists again, fight with him (i.e. prevent him violently e.g. pushing him violently), because such a person is (like) a devil. Narrated Muhammad bin Sirin: Abu Huraira said, Allahs Apostle put me in charge of the Zakat of Ramadan (i.e. Zakat-ul-Fitr). Someone came to me and started scooping some of the foodstuff of (Zakat) with both hands. I caught him and told him that I would take him to Allahs Apostle. Then Abu Huraira told the whole narration and added He (i.e. the thief) said, ‘Whenever you go to your bed, recite the Verse of Al-Kursi (2.255) for then a guardian from Allah will be guarding you, and Satan will not approach you till dawn.’ On that the Prophet said, He told you the truth, though he is a liar, and he (the thief) himself was the Satan. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 54, Number 495) More importantly, the Quran actually agrees with Satan since it unashamedly admits that Allah does deceive and mislead people! And my advice will not profit you, even if I wish to give you good counsel, if Allahs Will is to keep you astray (yughwiyakum). He is your Lord! and to Him you shall return. S. 11:34 And my sincere counsel will not profit you, if I desire to counsel you sincerely, if God desires to pervert you; He is your Lord, and unto Him you shall be returned. Arberry There are other passages which, though not using the same word, teach the same point: Then what is the matter with you that you are divided into two parties about the hypocrites? Allah has cast them back (to disbelief) because of what they have earned. Do you want to guide him whom Allah has made to go astray? And he whom Allah has made to go astray, you will never find for him any way (of guidance). S. 4:88 And We sent not a Messenger except with the language of his people, in order that he might make (the Message) clear for them. Then Allah misleads whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. S. 14:4 A Muslim may further say that Iblis’ response shows that his reason for not bowing to Adam had nothing to do with Allah’s order being directed to the angels, but out of pride and arrogance due to his being created from a superior element (fire) than man (dust). This really doesn’t solve the problem since one must account for the reason Satan thought he had been misled. Here is a better explanation of the data, one which takes into account all the information provided by the Quran: Iblis’ refusal to bow may have been due to pride at first but he may have later realized that Allah hadn’t directed this command to him, but to the angels. He may have further reflected that Allah was commanding the angels to do the very thing which was forbidden, namely worshiping a creature. After reflecting on all this Satan concluded that he had been duped, even deceived, by Allah since the intention was to cast Iblis out of paradise. Whatever the case, whatever the explanation, this point stands out clearly: Satan accused Allah of being a perverter, a misleader, with the Quran agreeing that this is what Allah truly is, going so far as to boast that Allah is actually the best schemer/deceiver of them all! GOD OF THE BIBLE IS CALLED JEHOVAH. 1. Muslims believe that Allah is simply the Arabic word for God. 2. Yahweh (Jehovah) is Gods redemptive title. - His personal relationship to those who believe. - Redeemer, Deliverer QUESTION If Allah is the same God of the Bible where are the same qualities? Ga 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Job 13:9; Lu 16:25; Ro 2:6; 1Co 6:9; 15:33; 2Co 9:6
