YIKES! I was going to keep quiet about whats going on but there is a scarier version of my story going around, so its time to come clean... Last Thursday night, I noticed that my left eye was slow while blinking. No biggie, I thought I had gotten something in it as it felt irritated. My left ear also hurt. When I woke up Friday, the left side of my face was partially paralysed. Brent quickly got me to the ER, as we all thought it was a stroke. (I was so scared and kept praying for Angels to surround us and keep us calm, it worked) The ER staff from start to finish was awesome. Turns out, its Bells Palsy. A virus that hits the 7th cranial nerve that affects the rest of the nerves to the left side of the face. I was put on a steroid, anti-viral meds and a daily B12 shot. (By Sunday, the left side of my face and neck became fully paralysed and remains that way.) So, it does LOOK like I had a stroke, I assure you, I did not. This is temporary! I will be back to (looking) normal in NO TIME! Until then, I am sharpening my skills in talking/eating/drinking and blinking with just one side of my face cooperating. Prayers and positive vibes are always welcome. XOXOXOXO **A special shout out to my sister, Lila and my brother in law for asking me if I could sing the Happy Birthday song in tune; I quietly sang it (slightly awkward while laying in Bed 1 of the ER but I was willing to try anything) and since I could, he assured me that it was Bells Palsy as he and his brother had it too. What an instant wave of relief off of our shoulders!** =)
