YOLKSHIREview (Bewakoofiyan): Too many things done at once - TopicsExpress

YOLKSHIREview (Bewakoofiyan): Too many things done at once result in Bewakoofiyan. It meshes too many ideas -- relevant and recycled -- to tell the story of Mohit (Ayushmann Khurrana), an overconfident junior executive of an airline company who gets pink slipped soon after hes promoted. Mohit, in the meantime, is forced to deal with the cantankerous father (Rishi Kapoor) of his super successful fiancée Myra (Sonam Kapoor) and to pretend hes still got his plush cabin in Gurgaon. The taunts and the intimidation becomes too much to handle! They do look like a couple comfortable in a relationship if not exactly in love. What makes the movie flimsy is the absence of any real insight despite the distress they go through. Whats more interesting here is the debate on whether a woman making more money than a man is something to feel embarrassed about for the latter, conditioned to play the provider since time immemorial. Thats the trouble with the watchable (but dispensable) Bewakoofiyan which fails to establish its chief motive. 2 out of 5 on the Eggometer
