Ya know there are step by step books on how to raise kids but not how to take care of aged parents. Heres a tip. Make a hospital to go bag that stays in your vehicle as you are always on call. Use duffel bag as you can zip it shut.. Here is whats in mine. 2 three ring binders. One for each parent. Inside is list of meds, medical conditions, surgeries and hospital visits ( its amazing what we forget) , copy of their drivers liscence, insurance cards , ssn# , plus power of attorney, health care surrogate, living will, extra clear slide in pages for other info. BTW this binder is great for regular dr visits too. Also in my bag is my Bible, a book, jacket, bottled water, healthy snack crackers,universal cell phone charger for all phones, pen, notepad, calling card case with all their doctors and money. In my cell phone is the number for their preacher and phone numbers of their friends. I keep this bag in my truck as again I never know when we are headed to er or hospital. When possible Ill grab my tablet and charger as most hosprals have free WiFi so I can keep working. I tried to pack patience but it would not fit so patience hops on top of the bag and goes along for the ride. Lol!!! .Remember once you walk through those doors you are on hospital time ! :-)
