Yahtzee was so emaciated when she arrived at MACC that they first put her on a legal hold, wanting to file charges against her owner. What happened with that, we will never know, but now this poor girl - whos gained quite some weight over the past weeks - will be killed for catching kennel cough. Unless, a foster or adopter steps up for her... A volunteer writes: Yahtzee is a small female who was found abandoned, skin and bones, not having seen a meal and maybe water for days and days. Even that we, humans have placed her in this predicament, Yahtzee does not appear to hold a grudge as she knows that humans can also be the source of good. Her survival instincts tell her she still has to trust and try us. And that is what smart little Yahtzee does. She has been a few days with us and still has a lot of weight to catch up with. She is still quite hungry and located very quickly the source of my treats. Yahtzee is intuitive. She realized I was a friend. I was not tricking her with my treats and after some time, she came to me for human warmth and not only food. She sat across me. I petted her. She did not seem in a hurry to leave. We went on a walk in the rain, encountered other dogs without any crisis. She eliminated on the way. Upon return to the care center, I dried Yahtzee with a towel. She seemed happy of the attention, looking at me with very gentle eyes. Yahtzee really needs a home, a master, a family, a place where meals will just be a normal part of the day but where love, respect and care will be the hallmarks of life. Yahtzee is at the Manhattan Care Center, dreaming to meet you soon.
